March 3 – The St. Augustine Lighthouse Fest The St. Augustine Lighthouse will grant FREE admission to the Lighthouse and grounds on Saturday, March 3 from 4 to 8:30 p.m., with exhibits, activities, and the Lighthouse open for the public. Join the Junior Service League of St. Augustine on Saturday, March 3, 2018 for the 35th Annual Lighthouse 5k & Fun Run. Managed by RaceSmith, Inc., the Lighthouse 5k is a chipped race that serves as a qualifier for the famed Gate River Run. Start time is 4:30 p.m. at the St. Augustine Lighthouse. March 3 – 10 – St. Augustine Fashion Week From March 3 to 10, 2018, St. Augustine Fashion Week will bring together creatives in the fashion, design, art, and nonprofit fields in support of a number of causes. Saturday, March 3, through Saturday, March 10, 2018. March 9 – 11 – The St. Augustine Celtic Music & Heritage Festival. Features world famous Celtic bands, including the Dublin City Ramblers, Seven Nations, Albannach, Rathkeltair, and Emish. Emmet Cahill and Enter the Haggis are headliners, and new bands are House of Hamill and the Steel City Rovers. The festival is held at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine. The event also includes a pre-festival Whiskey Tasting, Highland games, Celtic artisans and food, live music on two stages, a variety of entertainment — and the ONLY St. Patrick’s Day parade in Northeast Florida begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10. March 16 – 18 – The 37th Annual St. Augustine Lions Seafood Festival. Featuring great Seafood, Music, Arts & Crafts Village, Kidz Zone, Spanish Landing, and Pirate Village. Families will also enjoy the Kid Rides, Magic, Pirate Fun, Belly Dancers, Youth Performers, Character Actors and more. Boatloads of seafood will be served, with everything from lobster tail and conch fritters, to southern fried shrimp, octopus, wild Salmon, jambalaya and blue crab burritos on the menu. The Festival features a 3-day lineup of entertainment and fun as well as nearly 100 arts and crafts vendors exhibiting their work in the Arts Village. You might go home the winner of groceries, cash and other prizes. These are just a few of the highlights. This event is a favorite throughout northeast Florida and is fun for all ages while supporting Lions Club Charitable Activity Fund. March 17 – Spring-4-A-Cause 5k. To be held at 8:00 am on March 17th at St. Augustine Shores Riverview Club, 790 Christina Drive, St. Augustine FL 32086. ReAnna Green grew up in St. Augustine and graduated from Pedro Menendez High School in 2007. She graduated from UCF in 2011 with a BS in Nursing and moved to Baltimore to work at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. She tragically lost her life to Domestic Violence in April of 2015. This race has been organized to honor ReAnna, with the proceeds to help provide a scholarship to a Pedro Menendez athlete that will be pursing a career in nursing, but also speak out against Domestic Violence and to serve as a catalyst to help those who may fine themselves in a similar situation.
March 24 – Pups and Sups Surfing Competition. On Saturday, April 21, 2018 from 8:00 am to noon at the future Guy Harvey Outpost Resort located at 860 A1A Beach Blvd in St. Augustine Beach, FL 32080. A special Pups and Sups surfing competition will be held on the beach behind the future Guy Harvey Outpost Resort. Friendly dogs and their owners are invited to compete to raise funds for K-9s for Warriors, an organization which provides service animals to veterans and returning military personnel. Participants will be divided into three competitive divisions based on the weight of their dogs. No experience necessary — all are welcomed to enjoy a day of surfing for a good cause. Participants who do not have surfboards of their own may borrow one courtesy of Surf Station. Following the competition, awards will be given for biggest wave, longest ride, best wipe-out, and more. Those who wish to register may do so at Surf Station (located at 1020 Anastasia Blvd) or visit here. Admission: $40 per person to participate. Guests may watch the competition for free.
March 24 – Swamp Haven Rescue Stuffed Animal Project. This free event will be held from 4 – 5 pm at SJCPLS Southeast Branch. Kids of all ages will learn about the benefits of pet adoption through adopting a stuffed friend with local animal rescue group Swamp Haven Rescue! Registration is required for this free program. March 31 – Love Your Mother Eco Fashion Show. To be held at Marsh Landing Country Club features innovation, imaginative outfits made from eco-friendly and recycled materials. The VIP and sponsor reception begins at 5:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7 p.m. VIP tickets are $250, and general admission tickets are $55. April 6 – 8 – St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary’s 22nd Annual Rhythm & Ribs Festival features barbecue vendors from across the south, a BBQ competition, live music, a kids zone and Kiss the Pig, a fundraiser for Learn to Read. Non-stop music and award-winning scrumptious barbecue all weekend long at Francis Field. The festival is held at Francis Field, 29 W. Castillo Drive, downtown St. Augustine. Hours are 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 6; 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, April 7; and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, April 8. Hosted by the St. Augustine Sunrise Rotary, all proceeds go to more than 2 dozen local charities and nonprofits. April 7 – Spud Run Half Marathon, 5k & Cabbage Crawl The Spud Run Half Marathon, 5K and Cabbage Crawl will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018, in Hastings, Florida. This annual race consists of a 10K and 5K course, as well as a one-mile kids fun run. The Half Marathon and the 5K are both USATF-certified courses, and the races are professionally timed and scored by RaceSmith, Inc. February 2019 – State of the Reserve. This year, State of the Reserve will have three main components: a morning plenary and panel discussion; a series of scientific presentations in the afternoon, and an evening poster reception. The theme of the event is “The Art of Science in Our Community”, which is intended to explore the ways in which we make decisions as individuals and communities while the science to inform those decisions continues to be investigated. The panel will provide an opportunity to discuss this quandary as it applies to the coastal changes Northeast Florida has experienced in recent years, including impacts from Hurricanes Matthew and Irma.
