Volunteering as a family can offer an opportunity for individuals of all ages to experience the joy of service together.
No matter how you define “family,” volunteering as part of a team can create positive, shared memories!
As part of its mission, St. Johns Volunteers! is working to facilitate the expansion of opportunities to volunteer as a family by partnering with our non-profit and organizational members to support specific family-oriented volunteer options throughout the calendar year.
Volunteering provides an opportunity to educate children and teens about the value of service to others and to create a broader sense of awareness of the many social needs which exist in every society. Volunteering is viewed as an important element in youth character development. Working as a team member helps to develop positive skills which may assist with their future academic and professional success. (Note: Parents may be asked to remain onsite with their children under age 18 when engaging in volunteer service activities and may be also asked to sign general liability waivers pertaining to specific activities, tasks or venues.)

Siblings Barbara Locasale and Jack Barnes enjoy volunteering together for Pie in the Sky and drive packages of fresh produce to local seniors in need.
